Girls' Generation: Gee

Gee 

was released by Girls’ Generation as the lead single from their EP Gee on January 5, 2007. The song was written, composed, and arranged by E-Tribe. It had been 294 days since their last single release of Baby Baby in 2008.

Gee features members Hyoyeon, Jessica, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Sunny, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yoona, and Yuri at the average age of 19.6 years old.

On a side note: Gee is considered the song that sky rocketed the group into its success, while their releases afterwards proved them to be able to sustain that success.

The song charted only the South Korea Gaon chart in 2010 at #75 a year later after the charts were created. Gee is regarded as a blueprint for bubblegum pop in Kpop and has currently been placed on several lists over the years. It peaked at #1 on one of the billboard lists, Gallup Korea, and a Rolling stone kpop list. In total the song was placed on 14 different lists as of 2026.
