Automatic by Red Velvet was released on March 14, 2015 as the track number 2 on the EP Ice Cream Cake. Lyrics were written by Choi So-Young with composition and arrangement by Daniel “obi” Klein and Charli Taft.

The track features members Irene, Seulgi, Yeri, Joy, and Wendy at the average age of 20 years old. Automatic is the first lead single to feature member Yeri, as the album is the first to feature the new member.
